Janet Hoskins

Age: 87

Sex: female

Date: 8 May 2019

Place: Nelson, Caerphilly

Janet Hoskins was found dead at the bottom of some stairs at her home in Nelson, Caerphilly on 8 May 2019.

Her partner was questioned but the police closed their investigation eight months later.

It was heard that they were alcoholics and had been heard arguing the day before, but not on the day she fell down the stairs.

The man said that he had found her on the stairs and had then pulled her down by her ankles to a more comfortable position and then gone for a sleep but that when he awoke she was in the same position.

He was later arrested on suspicion of murdering her, but the police dropped their investigation eight months later.

Janet Hoskins had weighed 14 stone and it was heard at the inquest that she had lost her footing at the top of the stairs after a day drinking sparkling wine and Brandy with her husband.

Their son described his parents as functioning alcoholics, stating that they would start drinking wine in the afternoon and later move on to harder stuff in the evening.
